After evaluation of the socio-economic impact, SEAC adopted their opinions on restriction proposal on four phthalates: DEHP, DBP, DIBP and BBP.
News text:

SEAC (*) adopted the proposal of Denmark and ECHA to restrict the use of DEHP (CAS No 117-81-7), DBP (CAS No 84-74-2, 93952-11 -5), DIBP (CAS No. 84-69-5) and BBP (CAS No. 85-68-7) in articles.

The restriction applies to articles made in flexible PVC such as flooring, coated fabrics and paper, recreational gear and equipment, mattresses, footwear, office supplies and equipment, and other articles moulded or coated with flexible PVC and that cause exposure through the skin or by inhalation. Certain derogations are proposed by the SEAC, in particular for certain aircraft parts, products or appliances and for certain automotive articles.

The proposed restriction will apply three years after the amendment of the REACH Annex XVII comes into force.
